Do you want to subscribe to me?

Yes you read it right. My virtual life has grown to the point where you can see what I think as per the opinions and views I express on my blog, see what books I read, and now what music I listen to.

I must confess that each step of the way was a painful undertaking. When I first started my blog I was unsure what I could possibly offer to compel readers to stop by, whether certain things I was saying/believing had a sound foundation or was I merely being illogical…I got over that hang-up by concentrating on writing on what was important to me and that ranges from the philosophical to the trivial but it encapsulates the true essence of me.

When AB first got me started on Shelfari (I am his mandatory friend on most new virtual frontiers!) I had a hesitancy there too. Was I really ready to expose my weakness for mind-numbing romance novels or did I want to stick to the facade of the intellectual who studied English literature at university? It took some time but I’ve been fairly honest and the act of going public with what I read has actually helped improve my reading habit. I try to maintain a balance between thought-provoking fiction and fluff. I can’t deny either because both are a need for me. I do like the book which makes me pause and reflect as I go through the chapters as much as I like sitting down to a no-brainer romance novel which has me firmly in its grip even as I roll my eyes over the improbability of it all.

The latest frontier was the scariest to cross. I have recently got an account at Last.fm which is a site that lets friends share music and has radio as well. The one thing I didn’t know or at least had tuned out while AB was talking about it was the fact that when you connect your iPod to the computer your playlist gets scrobbled (meaning it appears on your profile and lets everyone see what you’ve been listening to!). This might not be a problem for most folks but I have an obsessive-compulsive listening pattern…I will have songs of the moment and listen to them on repeat for 2-3 days and you guessed it some of them aren’t exactly the kind of songs I’d like to advertise. Hence for the last 2 days I’ve been selective about what I’ve listened to as well!!

Another layer of my onion is peeled now…sigh!

www.preet-o.com

Last year AB talked me into buying my own domain and as luck would have it preet-o.com was available. A lack of interest and aptitude resulted in it lying dormant for the year.

This week when i renewed my domain i decided it was time to do something about it. After pestering AB with some silly questions and following the idiot-proof instructions at namezero (where i “bought” my domain) i’m proud to say i managed to forward my domain to my blog.

Its alive!! :D

P.S: Do indulge me and check out www.preet-o.com when you have the time.

Whom do you look like?

Whom do you look like?

The obvious answer would be close family. Now lets look at the bigger picture and take it a little glamorous. Everyone likes being told they resemble celebrities and now there is a site where you can go to get ‘official’ (at the very least take a print screen of the results) word on whom you resemble. Now the site does require you to register before it gives you the results but it guarantees not to spam you. The drawback is that there is a limited database for the faces they have and the results you get can be rather amusing.

My top result (at 80%):

Uma_me

Uma_me

And the second place goes to (at 78%):

Jessica_me

Have fun finding whom you resemble :-)

Dramatic sensibilities

Dramatic sensibilities

After almost 3 years of owning my camera I have finally gotten down to doing an SD card clean-up. Previously I would just go out and buy a new one but frugality must prevail especially if I want retirement to be sooner than what is mandated by my current finances!

In the process of the long and highly laborous clean-up I found some funny shots, some oh-my-god-i-can’t-believe-i-look-like-that in a bad way shots and this video. I’m quite self-aware so the fact that I’m highly expresive and a tad over-dramatic is not news to me but it was great fun actually watching it. I have no idea what the conversation was about but I remember the sms I received in that clip :-)

(Video to be found here)

To underscore the fact I am also wearing a t-shirt that reads “its all about me!”…for those of you who don’t know me personally…relax…its all in good fun…for those of you who do…sit back and enjoy. Many thanks to the following:

Starring role of Drama Queen: Me, myself and I
Left of Drama Queen: My Aunt, Harinder
Right of Drama Queen: My Cousin, Trishil
Camera Sans Sound: My Uncle, Pall

I shall do a better job with my next video since this is the first time I’ve ever uploaded a video from scratch. Those of you who want to be able to try some new stuff with your video do proceed to Jumpcut which was where I attempted to do extremely minimal editing with my video which didn’t come out quite as I had expected probably due to my rushing through the whole process. Anyone with tips and tricks to using Jumpcut’s video editing software do let me know. I have a few videos of my hamsters I want to jazz up before I let the world view my rodent beauties.

Enjoy experimenting!

Image Mosaics

Image Mosaics

This blog is a great space for my rants but just as there are 2 sides to any coin there are other sides to me as well. Those of you who like to have fun with your pictures here’s a place where you can do a mosaic of your pictures. Here’s the mosaic that i did:

Unfortunately i’m not techno-savvy enough to figure out how to upload a picture where you can zoom in to see the actual mosaic but please do try it out….its pretty cool and a fun way to temporarily distract yourself from the big, bad world.
